Freeskiing in Norway

Lapphaugen Freeride Days, Norway – 4 Days

Backcountry skiing, big mountains & stunning views

The cozy Lapphaugen cabin village, our base for the trip, is surrounded by impressive peaks just north of Narvik, right along the E6 highway. From here, we can ski directly from our doorstep — and within a short drive, dozens of beautiful summits are waiting.

During these four days, we’ll focus on easily accessible mountains in the Narvik and Lavangen area. Each day we’ll ascend the mountains by ski touring or splitboarding, with typical vertical climbs between 700–1200 meters depending on weather and group fitness.
If you’re confident skiing red and some black slopes on ski resorts and have some off-piste experience, you’ll fit in perfectly.

Accommodation and Meals

We stay in cozy cabins at Lapphaugen Turiststasjon, 1–4 people per cabin.
Each cabin has a kitchen, toilet, and shower. A small sauna is available when needed.

  • 2-person cabin: +€130/person

The lodge offers breakfast, lunch sandwiches, and dinner at a reasonable price (approx. 350–400 NOK/day). You can also cook your own meals in the cabins.

Weather & Conditions

April in Northern Norway offers some of the best freeride conditions of the year — long daylight hours, sunshine, and great snow.
Expect everything from perfect spring corn to knee-deep powder.

Temperatures vary: while it can feel warm in the sun, cold northern winds can quickly bring back winter conditions.
A shell jacket and pants are ideal, layered with a breathable fleece or softshell underneath.

Insurance

Freeriding always carries some risk
The trip fee does not include personal accident insurance.
The guide has liability insurance, covering only accidents directly caused by the guide.

We strongly recommend freeride or travel insurance that covers off-piste skiing.
Norway provides free mountain rescue and healthcare, so medical help is always available even if you don’t have insurance.
